Charlestown, RI

Charlestown, named after king Charles II, is located in the South West part of Rhode Island. In fact it used to be part of Westerly, which lies in the Southwest corner of Rhode Island. Charlestown is just a hop skip East of Westerly and offers many miles of line with its Southern boarder on the Atlantic. Unfortunately it is somewhat of a challenge to find public access to the shoreline apart from the beaches, which include: Charlestown Town Beach, Quonochontaug Beach (residents only), and Blue Shutters Town Beach.

Charlestown also offers Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge and Burlingame State Park, which both offer swimming ponds. Ninigret also has an ocean front beach, while Burlingame offers camping and hiking also.
